The Appointment Type node is used to manage the available appointment types in the Schedule.

Adding a Type
Click the green plus button above the sidebar to create a new appointment type and name it appropriately.

Show This Type As A Node In Scheduling: This checkbox enables the appointment type as a folder in the sidebar. All appointments of this type will appear in this node.

Duration: The default duration, in minutes, for the appointment type.

Patient Forms Automatically Assigned for Clipboard and Online Scheduling Only: Forms marked as Available in Clipboard or Available in Portal within the EHR Ability are listed and can be automatically assigned based on the appointment type.

The bottom area will only display if Online Scheduling is purchased. The Reason For Visit Display Name dictates what the appointment type looks like to Online users, the Patient Type defines which patients can see the type, and the checkbox Allow Same Day Scheduling will allow appointments to be scheduled on the same day.

Removing a Type

To remove an appointment type, select it in the sidebar and click the red minus button above. This will remove the record if it is not tied to any existing appointments.

If the type is tied to an existing appointment, a prompt will appear stating that it cannot be deleted. The drawer will pop open showing the existing appointment ties.

Clicking Cancel will disregard the attempt to remove the type.

The type for the tied appointments must be changed in order to move forward with deleting the unwanted record. Clicking Change or Change & Delete will bring up a window to select a replacement type.

Selecting Change will only change the type from one to another.

Change & Delete will change the type and delete the previously selected record.
Privileges
To prevent users from creating erroneous appointment types, or to ensure that a user is able to create and delete appointment types, verify that the proper Privileges are set.
