Schedule Appointment Page and Online Scheduling

By clicking Schedule Appointment, a patient can utilize Online Scheduling to make an appointment. Online Scheduling allows a Patient Portal user to schedule appointments without having to call in, and thus, without the office staff having to schedule the appointment.
Setting up Online Scheduling requires taking some particular steps in order to configure and use it properly to restrict scheduling times. You can learn about these in Online Patient Scheduling.

Patient Tabs

When an individual patient is clicked in the navigation bar, you'll see several additional tabs appear that you can cycle through. Let's go through each of these one by one:

  • Forms: This tab contains any EHR forms submitted to the patient to be filled out via the EHR Ability.

  • Patient Details: This tab allows the user to view demographic information and submit changes. Submitting changes will generate an Order in MacPractice so the office has a chance to review those submitted changes and ensure there are no mistakes.

  • Health Records: This tab will contain a patient's generated Clinical Summaries from the Clinical Ability. These are formatted as CCDA documents. This tab will also contain any Online Registration and other forms on the patient's chart. They will be able to view and download in a few formats, as well as send to another doctor if they also have a secure messaging e-mail available. Any completed forms will also be available here as well.
This tab is in itself separated into multiple sub-tabs.

    • Most Recent will retrieve the most recent documents within the last 30 days.

    • Past: This tab will retrieve any records from the prior years.

    • My Docs: This tab will list specifically CCDA Documents that have been generated. CCDA Documents that have been created from the Clinical tab are stored here.

    • Clinical: This tab contains the information contained in a Clinical Summary. By setting a date range and clicking the Apply button, you can pull up Clinical Summary information for that date range. The patient can also generate a new CCDA document if needed. You can click here for an article for further details.

  • Appointments: This tab displays either Upcoming Appointments, or the Appointments in the last 30 days.  You can also schedule an appointment from here via Online Scheduling.

  • Shared Files: This tab contains any Attachments that have been sent to the Patient via the Portal and Direct Messaging. If you sent something to be intended to be shared with a patient, you'll direct them here. Each item can either be viewed or download using the corresponding links.

  • Educational Resources: This tab pulls in any Patient Education Resources that you have added to the patient's chart in the Patient Education widget, located in the Clinical Ability. These Resources are defined in the Patient Education Resources reference, also located in the Clinical Ability.

  • Access Log: This tab displays when this user's Patient Portal has been accessed recently.

  • Health Record Corrections: Section allows the user to request corrections be made to their information. This section also keeps track of the status of any Corrections request so the Portal user will know if a Correction request has been approved or denied.

If your office has EHR purchased, you can use the EHR Ability within MacPractice to upload and assign EHR forms to a patient for them to fill out on the Patient Portal. This way, you can have a patient easily fill out required forms digitally before a visit to save both your office and the patient time.
For more detail on how to Assign forms, please refer to our Online EHR Forms article.
