DTX Bridge Installation, Setup and Usage

MacPractice is proud to announce a new integration with DTX Studio Clinic, a software suite published by Kavo Kerr that provides a method to capture imaging data in your practice, and our integration will allow you to pull information from DTX Studio Clinic to MacPractice. You can read more about DTX Studio Clinic here. The DTX integration and associated bridge will be available for use in MacPractice Builds 12 and above.

This article will review the installation, set up, and usage of the DTX Studio bridge to MacPractice.

Installation and SetupThe DTX Studio Server is a Windows-based software, and as such it should be installed and set up on a running Windows PC that is connected to your office network. MacPractice Support cannot assist with this task. You'll need to rely on your office's IT Professionals or a DTX Technician.

Our DR Specialist in MacPractice Support CAN assist with the installation of the DTX Studio Client on a separate computer, presuming the office has obtained the Mac-compatible DTX client provided by DTX. Installing a DTX Studio Client requires an installation key provided by DTX. If you do not have this key, please contact DTX Technical support for further assistance.

Once you have the Mac-compatible DTX Client installed on one of your office computers and you're able to log in to the client successfully with the DTX-provided credentials, you'll need to access the application settings. There should be a gear icon in the upper right corner of the log in window, much like the MacPractice client. Click this gear icon.

This will open up the Application Setting menu. Select "Core", as shown in the screenshot below. This is where there will be a field where you can enter the DTX Core (Server) IP address to connect this client to the DTX Server, much like how a MacPractice Client must be connected to a MacPractice server. This is an internal IP address, not the public facing IP address.

The IP address you enter in most cases must be followed with "33000", separated by a colon (:).  For example, it should look like this:

Once you have completed this task, the Settings window will look like this:

Next, click on the "PMS Integration" section in the Settings window.

In the PMS Integration settings, you'll want to ensure that "Enable PMS Integration" is checked, as well as "Enable patient creation and import".

In the OPP Web Port number field, make sure this has "4435" entered into it.

In the Other Port Number field, make sure this has "4429" entered into it.

When you have confirmed these fields and checkboxes are in the proper settings, click the "OK" button to save these changes.

Using The DTX Bridge & MacPracticeIn order to set the DTX Bridge as default, navigate to the MacPractice Menu > Preferences > Digital Rad. Bridges. Next, in the Bridge Drop down menu, click and select DTX.

In order to use the DTX Bridge from within MacPractice, select a patient in the Patients ability. Once you have a patient selected, click on the DR Bridge icon on the toolbar. If it isn't there, right click the toolbar and click "Customize Toolbar", then you can drag and drop the DR Bridge icon onto the Toolbar for easy access.

The patient account from MacPractice will open in DTX Studio Mac's native software where you can begin to use DTX Studio software to capture images with.
