User Interface
The MacPractice window is divided into 4 main areas:
At the top of the window is the Toolbar, which is used to navigate MacPractice through Ability icons.
The left side of the window is the Sidebar.
At the top of the sidebar are two buttons: plus and minus. Use these buttons to create or delete (or archive) a record.
Below the plus and minus button is the Label menu, which sets highlight colors for a selected item.
The Search field is used to search within a selected sidebar node.
The main part of the sidebar contains a list of Nodes. When you select a node, a disclosure triangle will appear to the left of it. Click the triangle to view the records within the node. For example, in Schedule, you have an Appointments node. If you expand the Appointments node, you will see a list of appointment records.
The main part of the MacPractice window is the View, which displays information about a selected record, or work within an ability.
There is also a Drawer that can be opened to one side of the MacPractice window, by clicking the button in the far lower left corner of the MacPractice window. The Drawer can be used to create Lists or to generate Reports about a selected record.

Expanding Triangles
Many places in MacPractice display a triangle next to an item (such as a node in References, a line of a report, and so on). Click this triangle to expand the node and view additional records or information.
Patient Selector
The Patient Selector within the MacPractice sidebar allows you to select the specific patient to whom actions in the main MacPractice window will be applied. Without a patient selected, the actions taken in the main MacPractice window will not be associated to a specific patient. For example, an Order may be created without associating the record to any specific patient.
With a patient selected, any records you create (appointments, notes, visits in Digital Radiography or Imaging, and so on) will be associated to that patient. Click the Patient Selector, then search for and select the specific patient. The Patient Selector displays the patient's name, age, weight, and any alert icon.
