The MacPractice Forms Department can create custom templates for your office by request. Contact MacPractice Support for further information on pricing and design options.

Custom EMR/EDR Template Install Process

To install templates from an email on desktop computers, follow these steps:

  1. Access the email with the attached template(s). Note that the template(s) will be compressed into a single zip file.

  2. Depending on the mail service you use, the method of getting the zip file from the email to your computer may vary. First, try to double-click the attached zip located in the email.

One of three things will happen at this point:

    a. The file will automatically unpack into the Downloads folder.

    b. The file will automatically unpack to the computer's Desktop.

    c. The mail service (such as Gmail) will make you download the zip file before unpacking it. If this happens the zip file will need to be located and unpacked manually.

Lastly, you can also drag and drop the file to your computer Desktop or a specific Folder directly from the email.

  3. Once the zip file has been extracted (either automatically or manually) you will see an ".etpl" file with the same name as the zip file. Double-click the .etpl file to bring up the install prompt.

  4. Click "Import Form" in order to install the custom template(s) into MacPractice.

You can verify that the new templates have been installed by:

    1. Going to the EMR/EDR ability in MacPractice and

    2. Select and exapnd the Downloads folder in the sidebar. If you still don't see your templates, select the Reload button in the MacPractice toolbar.

It is recommended to drag and drop the zip attachment from your email to your desktop, or a folder of your choice, or that you save the email containing the template in order to have the file in the event that it needs to be reimported for any reason.

Please note that while your forms are in a continued state of development it is our official recommendation that you not use these forms on any actual patients within your MacPractice database and rather only use them on "Test" patients until the project is completely finished. Not following this guideline could result in the loss of patient data which MacPractice cannot help you recover.
