Many menu items in MacPractice have a keyboard shortcut. The table outlines which keys on the keyboard are represented by which symbols in the menu. For example, the File menu displays "⌘P” next to the Print menu item. The Command-P shortcut opens the Print menu.

Keyboard shortcuts can be customized with the Menu Commands Reference.

Tab Navigation

Tab navigation can be used to move keyboard focus between all controls or just text boxes and lists. Within Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard. In the Keyboard Shortcuts pane, select the Full Keyboard Access setting.

Click Text boxes and lists only or All controls. The All controls option moves focus through to all controls including menus, checkboxes, buttons, and so on.

With All controls selected, press the Tab key to move keyboard focus to any button, fields, or menu without using a mouse. For example, with the cursor in a field, press the Tab key to move focus to the next field. When the next option is a menu, press the Space bar to access the menu list. Choose from the list with the arrow keys, or press the letter key to the first letter of any list item to highlight that item. Press the return key to choose the list item.
