iPhone Interface - Patients

This article covers the functionality when selecting a Patient in the iPhone Interface.

A patient can be selected two different ways:

  1. Select the patient from the schedule, by tapping on an appointment and then switching to Patients

  2. Searching for a patient using the search box in the upper left

Once a patient has been selected, they will remain selected until a different patient is selected or the user logs out of the interface.

When a patient is selected, you will see their name and account number in the top center of the screen.

Patient alerts, such as allergy information, will appear as pop-ups just like in MacPractice on the desktop. These can be cleared by tapping on them.

Adding a Patient

To add a patient, tap the "Add" button in the top right corner. Enter the patient's demographic information, and optionally include a requested appointment time or other notes in the "Appt Information" field at the bottom. When you tap the Submit button in the top right, an Order will be generated in the MacPractice desktop application assigned to the user currently logged into the iPhone interface. This order can then be used to create a new patient using the "Create Patient" button on the Orders screen.

Post Charge

Tapping "Post Charge" with a patient selected will first bring you to a screen asking you to select a Fee Schedule to use. The patient's default fee schedule will have (Default) listed after the name. Once you have selected a fee schedule, a search box will appear in the upper right. You can search for a code from this box. You can search by procedure description, alias, or by code.

Once you have selected a code, you can edit the procedure date, description, and fee. If the Modifier and Diagnosis fields are turned on in the iPhone Interface Preferences, those can be added as well.

Tap Post Charge when you are done entering your information.

The procedure will not be added to the patient's ledger immediately. An HL7 Imported Transactions order will be created for the patient. Click here for information on posting charges from an order.
