Tying Treatment To Appointments

Many offices need to view treatment codes for their upcoming appointments. In MacPractice, there are a few different workflows that accomplish this task. Each of these options require the Appointment Display Text to include Treatment Plan Codes, Treatment Plan Descriptions, or Notes.

This article will cover the different workflows for how to tie Treatments to an Appointment.

Tying Treatments in the Patient's Treatment PlanMacPractice recommends offices enter treatment in the Patient's Treatment Plan located in the Ledger. The timing of entering these charges can change depending on each offices workflow. Some choose to enter treatment first and order them into Phases. Please review the Treatment Plan - Adding Treatments And Phases article for more information on this process and how to utilize phases.

Once the office and patient are satisfied with the phase, simply click the Schedule button next to the Phase.

This will take the user to the Schedule where they can click and drag to create an appointment for the patient. The treatment will be tied to the appointment and will display as Codes or Descriptions, depending on what the office has chosen with their appointment display settings. Keep in mind the appointment display is limited to the size of the appointment itself.

Tying a Previously Scheduled Appointment to a Treatment
If the appointment has already been scheduled, the user can click the time/date listed in the Appointment Date column of the treatment plan and select the appointment they wish to tie to that treatment.

Tying an Appointment to a Treatment via the Advanced View
Offices can accomplish this task without entering treatment first if they schedule the appointment, open the Advanced View in the Schedule and add treatment to the treatment plan. This will automatically tie the treatment to that appointment.
Using the Notes section to indicate Treatment
Finally, offices can choose to enter the treatment details into the Notes section of the Appointment itself. This does not add the treatment to the Treatment Plan or ledger and will not charge the patient for the services.
