Production By Month Report
The Production by Month report shows information for charges posted during the selected time period, broken down by month, as well as the transactions (such as payments or adjustments) associated with those procedures.
Because of this, the payment information on this report will not match your other reports in MacPractice.
Example: A patient comes in for an exam in March. The exam is posted as a charge to the ledger. Insurance pays on the exam, but the payment is not received or posted until April. If you run the Production by Month report for March, the insurance payment for the exam will be counted in the Insurance Payment column, since it was applied to a procedure performed in March. However on the Gross Receipts report, the insurance payment would show under April's receipts, as that is when it was entered in the database.

Results Columns

In the initial view of the Production by Month report, you will see a row for each month in the selected date range, as well as information regarding transactions for that month.
Month Year: Indicate what month the results in that line are from.
# Patients:Â Shows the number of patients that had transactions entered during that month. If a patient had multiple transactions for that time period, they will only be counted once in the "# Patients" column.
# Office Visits: Indicates the total number of patient visits for the month. Multiple transactions for a single patient are counted only once, but if the same patient had procedures from multiple dates, they will be counted once for each date.
Fees: Shows total fees entered for the month.
Pri. Allowed Amounts:Â The total primary allowed amount for all procedures for the month.
Tax:Â Shows tax charged for those fees.
Lab Costs:Â Displays a total of lab costs for all fees for the month that were associated with a lab.
Neg. Adj: Shows any negative adjustments applied towards charges posted during that month. It does not matter when the negative adjustment was entered, or applied. If it is tied to a procedure during the month, it will show up here.
Pos. Adj:Â Shows any positive adjustments associated with procedures for the month. As with the negative adjustment, it does not matter when the positive adjustment was entered, as long as the procedure date on the charge it is associated with falls within the month.
Write-off: Shows any write-offs associated with the insurance payment tied to this procedure. Like other items on this report, it only matters that they are associated with the procedure. The write-off's posted/procedure date do not count.
Patient/Insurance Paid: Reflects payments applied towards charges performed in the month. These numbers will not match deposits, gross receipts, or earned receipts, as each of those reports figure their date range on different criteria.
Open:Â Shows the unpaid amount for all charges for the given month.
You can click the triangle next to any of the months to see expanded results.
