Location Without Internet : DNS Excluded Location

The MacPractice software routinely checks the internet for updates, licensing, and so on. If the internet connection is down due to circumstances beyond your control, the MacPractice software may become slow or unresponsive while using the affected Internet connection. The same type of delay would be present when accessing external Web pages or email.

To work around this, it is possible to create a separate, new location by excluding DNS information. If the DNS Information is not present, MacPractice will not try access the internet but can still use the local network to use MacPractice, print, and so on.

If you have created this location, select it from the Apple menu, under the Location item. When the Internet connection is restored, change back to the usual Ethernet Only location.
